AMC Theaters will look to add the popular Shiba Inu meme coin to its list of cryptocurrency payment options.
The giant cinema chain is continuing with its pro-digital asset approach, according to the CEO, Adam Aron. In a recent earnings call, Aron indicated that the company is exploring how to add Shiba Inu (SHIB) as a payment method as well.
CryptoPotato reported earlier this year when AMC kicked off its cryptocurrency efforts by allowing its customers to buy certain items with BTC, ETH, LTC, and BCH.
Shortly after, the company took advantage of the ongoing meme coin craze and added Dogecoin as well.
In late October, Aron took to Twitter to ask if AMC should do the same with the self-proclaimed DOGE killer, Shiba Inu.
It seems that the overwhelming dominance of those who believe that additions should happen “definitely” has prompted CEOs to explore how to do it.
The Verge cited a recent earnings call in which Aron promised that once the company fully adopts the aforementioned digital assets, the Shiba Inu will be “next to our cryptocurrency hit parade.”
“I can confirm today that we have been exploring with third parties over the past few months about how we can accept cryptocurrencies and whether it is feasible for AMC to consider even launching our own cryptocurrency.” – added Aaron.
Additionally, he explained that the firm is “now in conversation” with many Hollywood studios “about the concept of a joint commemorative NFT related to the title of a major film showing in our theaters.”
